Anne received the silver bowl for the Arboreal Award for spearheading “The wreath for Trees” fundraiser that allowed the club to donate 5 American Elm trees to the Town Center Park. The club also received awards for Publication: 2nd place for its Newsletters (medium club), Publicity Press Book 3rd place (small club), Yearbook Honorable mention class IV (45-69) members and a
Certification of Commendation and Appreciation (New England Region). This was for the National President’s Project Golden Days.
The Spring Glen Garden Club is a chartered member of The Federated Garden Clubs of Ct,, Inc. and the National Garden Clubs since 1929.

THE SPRING GLEN GARDEN CLUB DEC MEETING

The Spring Glen Garden Club of Hamden invites you to be part of
HAPPY HOLLY DAZE, a buffet luncheon and floral program. Following lunch, Sylvia Nichols of The Flower Shop at Cheshire Nursery will present “In a Holiday Mood” where she will create six Holiday designs. At the end of the program all designs will be raffled, along with several gift baskets. The cost is $15.00.
The holiday happenings will be held Monday Dec. 6, 2010 at 12 noon at the Mt. Carmel Congregational Church, 3284 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Ct.

The Spring Glen Garden Club is a member of The National Garden Clubs, Inc. and The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, Inc. This is a fund raiser to benefit The Spring Glen Garden Club’s Hamden civic beautification projects.
The Garden Club’s ongoing projects include The Bird and Butterfly Garden at Lockwood Farm, the Historical Herb Garden at the Jonathan Dickerman House, Eli Whitney Park Gardens, and the plants at the Town Hall Legislative Council Chambers.

Kathy Olson

Kathy Olson "The Bee Lady" in order to teach her students not to be afraid of bees, started learning and teaching about bees their anatomy, live style, diseases etc. She created a course for all grade levels. Although she doesn't keep bees, she is a member of The Connecticut Beekeepers Association enabling her to keep up with the latest developments in the scientific world of honeybees. Kathy lectured recently at a meeting of The Spring Glen Garden Club. Kathy's lecture was very informative.
