     The Spring Glen Garden Club will be holding its October meeting on Monday October 21, 2019 at 11:45 am at Lockwood Cottage, 890 Evergreen Ave. Bring your own lunch, dessert and beverage will be provided. After a short business meeting the speaker will begin at 1 pm.  The speaker will be Deirdra Wallin, her subject will be “Benefits of Horticulture”.  Deirdra is a Registered Horticultural Therapist, Advanced Master Gardener, Master Composter and Master Naturalist with a background in social services and volunteer management.  Owns and operates, The Personal Gardener, a business that specializes in the development and maintenance of the home garden and has grown to providing educational, social and therapeutic programming for individuals and groups.  Program coordinator at The Connecticut Audubon Society, Deer Pond Farm in Sherman, Connecticut.
     Laurie Masciandro at the September meeting gave a wonderful lecture on the Historic Gardens of CT.  The gardens are nice places to visit, many designed or planned by women. Beatrix Farrand and Gertrude Jekyll work is featured in some of these gardens. Please visit the gardens, a few are: Osborne Homestead Museum and Kellogg Environmental Center, Derby, Florence Griswold Museum, Old Lyme and Harkness Memorial State Park, Waterford.

Brooksvale Fall Festival


     The Spring Glen Garden Club will have booth at the Brooksvale Fall Festival.  We will have fall goodies for sale. There will have a few give-aways. Please stop by our booth at the festival. 
     The Brooksvale Fall Festival will be Saturday Sept. 28, 2019, rain date Sunday 29, from 11am till 4 pm, at Brooksvale Park, Hamden, Ct.

The Spring Glen Garden Club a  fixture in the Community since 1925, a chartered member of the The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, Inc. and National Garden Clubs, Inc. since 1929. 
     The Spring Glen Garden Club will be holding its April meeting, Monday, April 8, 2018 at Lockwood Cottage.  Lockwood Cottage is located at 890 Evergreen Ave. Hamden, CT.
     The meeting will begin at 11:45 am, with a social hour, bring lunch, dessert and beverage will be served.  After a brief business meeting the speaker will begin at 1pm.  The speaker will be Kim Stoner; her subject will be “Planting for bees needs”.

 Gary Zinsmeyer with his fabulous designs he created recently for members of The Spring Glen Garden Club. The program was called “Holiday Magic”.
     Gary has done many garden club programs over the years.  His business, now in its 30th year specializes in galas, corporate events, weddings and larger celebrations.
     Gary was a high school vocational education teacher for many years. Then he joined Cornell University serving as an Extension Agent.  From there he went on to start his own business- Gary Z of Stamford.
     The beautiful designs were raffled off to the attendees.
